Popular Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, also known as Akothee, has penned an emotional letter to her late brother-in-law, who is believed to have taken his own life.

In her letter, Akothee expressed sympathy for her brother-in-law but also criticized his decision to end his life, leaving his family behind.

The 43-year-old artist noted that his choice has left many, including his own children, heartbroken.

"Dear Brother-in-Law, I don't have the strength to judge you for the decision you made to end this journey. I might want to ask why you didn't reach out to me or even to your nieces and nephews, but maybe you thought everyone was caught up in their own problems," Akothee wrote on Instagram.

She attached her letter with some memorable photos of her brother-in-law.

"But now, allow me to ask—what about your wife and your children? Omuga and the others? Daudi, did you not think about your mother, who has been a widow for just a year? Why were you so selfish, Odebi? You've broken my children's hearts," she added.

The musician took the opportunity to reveal that she herself has been in a similar position where she considered taking her own life as the best option.

She noted that her children made her discard those thoughts, and she continued to question why her brother-in-law had reached a point of despair.

"You were brave to do this to us, an SDA man. You know you were the apple of your mother's eyes. I'm deeply worried for our sick mother-in-law," she said.

The mother of five also asked for forgiveness from the deceased, acknowledging that they are all left in sorrow.

"I'm so sorry, Odebi. Please forgive us for not being there for you, but honestly, we are all frustrated with life right now, we are all barely keeping our heads above water just to avoid suffocation," Akothee said.

"Rest in peace, Omejo. Yuora ma ok luonga gi nyinga," she added.
