During the finance bill 2024 protest Kenyans raised over Sh 31 million via the Mchanga account dubbed 'care for the injured'.

The funds were to take care of victims injured by police brutality and support their families. Activist Hanifa Adan was in charge of the account and proved Kenyans right for trusting her by providing receipts and how he handled the funds properly.

On the 5th of September 2024, Hanifa posted an audit report on how the funds raised on Mchanga were distributed. She won a lot of people's hearts for her accountability.

She took it to her X platform to write an emotional message of appreciation to Kenyans who raised over Sh 400,000 for her act of transparency.

"You all have my heart. I have no words wallah. I probably shouldn't be disclosing how much I'm getting but it's over Sh 400,000 I can't keep count. I'll invest well and cherish your love and support." she wrote

In the report, the total number of dead people was 62 while those who needed help for hospital bills to be catered for due to injuries were 146 adding up to 208 beneficiaries. She posted authentically detailed receipts of the hospitals that she worked with.

Hanifa disclosed she would be taking a social media break but promised to come back rejuvenated. She also shared the challenges she faced with her family members who were worried about her during the protest.

"This is me taking a social media break for a bit. I was always scared to open Twitter and every day was agonizing for me .

Explaining to my family to ignore propaganda every time they got angry was the hardest part for me ." she said

She concludes by emphasizing Kenyans to protect the new activist Morara who as humans may make mistakes they should not crucify him as he is the current voice of the people.

"Please protect Morara and don't demoralize him," she concluded, " Asante sana."
