Sultana actress & cancer warrior Winnie Bwire is dead

• The actress lost the battle to cancer at a time she was undergoing treatment in Turkey.

Kenyan actress and former Sultana actor Winnie Bwire aka Dida has passed away. 

The death announcement was made by her family in a public statement shared by Citizen TV's Lulu Hassan. 

The actress lost the battle to cancer at a time she was undergoing treatment in Turkey. 

"It is with heavy hearts and humble acceptance of God's will that we announce Winfred Bwire Ndubi lost her battle with cancer on 5th September 2024, while undergoing treatment in Turkey.

"We thank you all for your overwhelming support, prayers, and generous giving during her treatment. We will share more detaisl in due course" read the announcement.

Winnie's last Instagram post was five days ago, about a medical fund appeal for her treatment in Turkey.

"I am failing to caption this because I’m a mess😩. Not enough thank you….s will ever suffice for the sacrifice, support, prayers tears time, and money you have accorded me. Dear Humans, Mubarikiwe sana," she penned her gratitude.

The former Sultan actress has been battling breast cancer for some time now and she has been in and out of hospital. 

Her cancer journey earned her the title of Warrior as she enlightened Kenyans on the medical condition.

The cancer survivor on August 28 was headed to Turkey for further treatment and shared a video of the plane ride with her family. 

She thanked Kenyans for giving her a fighting chance with donations.

She was struggling to talk but felt encouraged that she would go through a successful treatment and return to Kenya.

Unfortunately, she lost the battle to cancer. May her soul rest in peace.
