Sakaja's commitment to improving sports facilities in Nairobi bearing fruits [Photos]

• The Sakaja administration has committed to constructing new stadiums as it continues to rehabilitate, maintain, and upgrade the current sports facilities in the City.

• Governor Sakaja delivered Dandora Stadium on 8th March 2024 after a delay of Six years.

In the last two years, Nairobi Governor HE Sakaja Johnson has shown his commitment to the improvement and development of sports facilities all around the county.

This is in support of the youth of Nairobi to advance their talents in sports and aid to protect the youth's future.

The Sakaja administration has committed to constructing new stadiums as it continues to rehabilitate, maintain, and upgrade the current sports facilities in the City.

Governor Sakaja delivered Dandora Stadium on 8th March 2024 after a delay of Six years.

The 4,000-sitting capacity facility features a play pitch equipped with an artificial turf, utility rooms constructed to international standards, floodlights, and working a drainage system.

The facility has enabled youth to have a platform to enhance, nurture, and improve their talents.

During this time, Governor Sakaja also unveiled Uhuru Complex Sports Arena, which boasts of a football pitch, a basketball court, and a convertible court, which can be used for netball, volleyball, and handball.

It also has a multipurpose hall to host indoor games like chess, and table tennis, among other sports. A boxing ring is also available to host boxing matches.

The facility gives opportunities to the youth to showcase their abilities in different sports disciplines. Public schools have free access to the Arena.

Other facilities earmarked for rehabilitation and construction include Kihumbui Stadium, which construction was launched by Governor Sakaja this year, Woodley Stadium construction will commence soon after the county confirms the acquisition of a new contractor and Joe Kadenge (formerly City Stadium) will be receiving a facelift too. Other stadiums planned for construction are Ziwani, Githurai, Mukuru, and others.

To fulfill this commitment, the Sakaja administration has started the process of reclaiming all grabbed county sports and community facilities.
