Former Tahidi High actor, Omosh Kizangila, has opened up about how he fell into the trap of alcohol and drug addiction.

In an interview with Obinna TV, Omosh revealed that the first time he tasted alcohol was after completing his secondary education.

Omosh shared his journey of battling alcohol addiction, how he eventually overcame it, and started anew.

Joseph Kamau, popularly known as Omosh Kizangila, says he first tried alcohol right after finishing high school.

"In life, if there’s anyone who decides your future, it’s not the teacher or the parent, but the friends you choose in life...they are the ones who define your destiny," Omosh said.

"I was hanging out with older people...that was my problem," he added.

According to him, it was his friends who introduced him to drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes. He started using these substances regularly, especially on weekends, until he became addicted.

After high school, Omosh worked as a conductor, and that’s how he funded his alcohol and drug habits. He couldn't complete college due to his drinking habits.

He had to undergo surgery because the alcohol had severely affected his body, especially since he already had stomach ulcers.

Even after recovering from surgery, he went back to drinking because of the influence of his friends.

As his fame grew, so did his drinking. He would go to bars and drink until he passed out.

His alcohol consumption began to affect his work.

Omosh says his body only accepted alcohol, and he couldn’t eat unless he had a drink first.

He tried to quit alcohol many times but failed. Every time he missed a drink, he couldn’t function because his body would tremble.

"A large percentage of my blood was alcohol...I couldn't eat unless I drank first," Omosh admitted.

Omosh eventually quit drinking on his own after having a personal meeting with himself. He is now sober, has given his life to Christ, and no longer drinks alcohol or smokes.

He advises young people to stay away from alcohol, as its effects are not good. Omosh is a former actor on 'Tahidi High' and a father of three daughters.
