Kakamega County Affairs

On Wednesday, August 21, Ian Washika informed Mpasho that the Kakamega County Referral Hospital had received Sh34 million in medicine following his repeated calls.

"After my oversight role as a distinguished Youth leader of Kakamega on the state of Health in Kakamega in particular Kakamega County Referral Hospital, Chief Officer of Health Hon Alilah has acted swiftly, and it has received medicine worth Sh 34 million," Washika said.

Washika complimented Alilah for moving quickly to ensure that major hospitals in the county received more medical supplies.

"To CEC youth, Mandela, the baton is on you, you must deliver to the youths of Kakamega," said Washika.

As previously reported, in July, the young politician led the county's young people in a massive nonviolent march to raise awareness of the county's healthcare system.

According to the demonstrating youths, the health system was failing, alleging most hospitals lacked medicine and vital equipment, and patients were dying owing to what they called incompetent doctors.

The young Kenyans expressed concern about the county's health-care system, which was about to collapse.
