Kenyan actress Caroline Muthoni, popularly known as Carrol Sonie, has emphasized that she took a break from creating content on social media due to psychological issues she was experiencing.

In an interview with Obinna TV, the 25-year-old beauty revealed that the challenges she faced after breaking up with comedian Mulamwah affected her so much that she nearly lost her mind.

Sonie said it was the counseling sessions funded by comedian Nasra Yusuf that saved her and helped her regain her mental well-being.

"I took a break and went through therapy. I had to undergo treatment because I was losing it. The counseling helped me understand and realize why I was going through what I was experiencing. That's why I took a break," Sonnie said.

She added, "Honestly, Nasra was the one who helped me. I was going crazy; I would wake up to find myself trending and not knowing what I had done. All of that affected me mentally, and I didn’t know where or whom to turn to. I’m grateful to Nasra, she helped me, she paid for my therapy, and I went for three months. She (Nasra) would wake me up every morning to go for therapy."

The mother of one clarified that the depression that affected her stemmed from social media and not from postpartum effects.

"My depression was due to online harassment and humiliation. It got into my head and severely affected my mental health," the mom of one said.

Sonie noted that before seeking therapy, she didn't know how to handle online hate, something she has since learned to manage.

"Now, I take everything positively, whether good or bad. What you comment or say about me doesn’t matter," she said.

Additionally, Mulamwah’s former partner mentioned that her parents were also affected by the hate she was receiving online, but they helped her cope with the situation.
