Comedian Dr. Ofweneke, widely known for his humour and charismatic presence as an MC, recently opened up about the end of his second marriage to Christine Tenderess, revealing the emotional challenges he faced during that difficult period.

This candid confession came during an August 20, 2024, interview on his YouTube channel, where he hosted fellow media personality Willis Raburu.

Reflecting on his past, the father of 3 shared how he questioned God after his 2nd marriage fell apart, feeling disheartened despite his efforts to be a supportive partner and a responsible father.

"I told God, 'Again? I’ve tried doing everything right. I’ve been supportive, prayerful, and diligent as a baby daddy. Even with my ex-wife, I’ve made sure everything is in order. But still, this marriage is failing. How can I stand before people as Dr. Ofweneke and speak to men with authority?'" he recalled.

In the aftermath of the breakup, he took time to introspect and examine the patterns that might have contributed to his failed relationships.

He traced his fear of abandonment back to his childhood, revealing that his mother left him when he was just a week old, and his father remarried when he was four.

Raised by various relatives and spending time working on farms in Western Kenya and Malava, Ofweneke didn’t grow up with his father or stepmother, which instilled in him a deep-seated fear of being abandoned.

This fear manifested in his relationships, where he admitted to holding back emotionally, loving from a distance to protect himself from potential heartbreak.

"I realized I’m a lover who, when I embrace you, gives 100 percent. But sometimes, I don’t give my all because I’m afraid that if I love too much, you’ll leave. If my mother left, then so can you," he confessed.

Despite these fears, Ofweneke is now determined to love fully in his current relationship with Maryanne Baraza, who he has been open with.

Additionally, Ofweneke acknowledged his struggle with alcohol, which had negatively impacted his relationships and has now been sober for seven months.

Ofweneke’s relationship status drew public attention on July 7, 2024, when he introduced Maryanne as "Mrs. Ofweneke" on his 'Mr. Right' show, marking a new chapter in his personal life which stunned many of his fans.

Ofweneke was previously married to gospel singer Nicah The Queen, with whom he separated in 2016. They continue to co-parent their two children.
