Triple Olympic women's 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon has disclosed that her biggest motivation is her daughter.

This, Kipyegon said, is because of the role her daughter plays each time she participates in a race.

The athlete noted that the daughter has made it a routine to call her and ask why she did not win, whenever she falls short.

Kipyegon said this motivates her to work even more.

"My daughter is a great source of my motivation. On many occasions when I fall short of coming first, she calls to ask why I never win. I'm really motivated by that," she said on X.

Her remarks came after she returned from the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

During the games, Kipyegon fell a few seconds short of a Gold medal after she came in second to win a Silver.

The silver, however, did not come short of controversy after she was initially disqualified for shoving Ethiopian athlete Tsegay Gudaf.

Kipyegon was disqualified under Rule TR17.2.2 (163.2 (b)) on jostling or obstruction (O/S).

The law suggests that any athlete who jostles, pushes or obstructs another athlete during a race could be disqualified by the applicable Referee on the report of an umpire.

Team Kenya would appeal the decision to disqualify her and was reinstated.

At the Olympic games, Kipyegon became the first athlete in history to win Gold in the 1,500m race three times consecutively.

She was among the only two Kenyan athletes to have won at least two medals in the Paris Olympics.

The other was Beatrice Chebet who won Gold in the 5,000m and 10,000m races.
