US- based Senegalese artist Akon risks losing 90% of the land he was given to build 'Akon City.'

The 'Lonely' singer launched the project in 2020.

This mega project is located on 136 acres of Atlantic coast.

It is in danger of not being accomplished  after the Senegalese government asked the artist to officially start construction otherwise he will lose 90 percent of the land he was given.

Senegal's national tourism and coastal development agency, Sapco-Senegal, has warned that Akon must start construction immediately or it will lose most of the allocated land.

The move comes after Akon failed to make several payments to Sapco, according to Bloomberg.

The government of Senegal expects to see rapid progress on this project, which has great prospects for the country's economy and the growth of the tourism sector in Senegal if it is completed.

It is said that until now there is only one building that Akon has built since 2018 although in 2019 and 2020 to 2021 it was hit by the Corona epidemic which caused the project to stop.

Akon City would be the only modern and touristic city in Africa.
