Singer Taylor Swift has expressed her shock and sorrow following a knife attack at a dance workshop themed around her music, which left three children dead and nine others injured.
The attack occurred on Monday at an event on Hart Street, Southport, targeting both children and adults.
Posting on Instagram, Swift said she was "at a complete loss" for how to convey her sympathies. Her fans have since raised more than £85,000 for the families of the victims.
Swift, who performed in nearby Liverpool during her European tour in June, described the "horror" of the attack, which resulted in two children dead, six critically injured, and three others hurt.
She said the "loss of life and innocence" and the "horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there" had left her struggling to find words to express her condolences to the affected families.
A crowdfunding page called Swifties for Southport has raised over £89,000 for Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where many of the injured are being treated.
Organizers from the Taylor Swift UK & EU Facebook group said the funds would be directed to the hospital's charity arm.
In a statement, the group mentioned it was collaborating with the hospital to "help raise money for the families affected by the tragedy in Southport" and "raising funeral funds for the two young Swifties who have tragically passed."
They assured that every donation would benefit the hospital's charity, helping those impacted during this time of great sadness.
The attack also left two adults critically injured. A 17-year-old boy from Banks in Lancashire has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder in connection with the attack.
Police stated that the motivation for the attack remains "unclear" but it is not being treated as terror-related.
