Kathy Kiuna's sister, Jane Kirubi, amazed mourners with tales about the couple at Bishop Allan Kiuna's funeral on Wednesday, July 17.

Jane shared her first impression meeting the late man of God and said,

"One day, as we were heading back to Kathy's office, we heard a deep voice calling 'Kathy.' We turned around and saw this six-foot-tall, handsome man. I thought, Awww...."

She recounted how Reverend Kathy introduced her to Allan, and when she asked Kathy if he was saved, Kathy replied in the affirmative.

That was the beginning of a great relationship for the 3 as Allan started joining the sisters for lunch at City Market daily.

"We became closer, and he would borrow my sister's car to run errands. This was when he was between jobs, which is a polite way of saying he was jobless.

One day, I got a distressed call from Kathy saying Allan had been in an accident and couldn't afford to fix the car because he was unemployed.

I told her not to worry, we would handle it. But Kathy was frustrated and said, 'I think I need to cut him loose. It's too much. It has been a few months now, and he still doesn't have a job,'" Jane recounted.

But Jane saved Allan's goose that day as she went on to defend the future bishop.

"I think it was because we were both introverts, so when Kathy returned to the office after lunch, Allan and I would sit together in silence, but we enjoyed each other's company. I convinced Kathy not to break up with him because she was seriously considering it."

Late on in the service, Kathy reminisced about her late hubby fondly remembering the years they spent together, and prayed for grace to go on without him.

"It is hard because not only was Bishop my husband, he was my best friend. For me, he wasn't just a friend but a confidant for 30 years. I have been with him longer than I have been alone. I want to tell you, hunny, we will make you proud," a tearful Kathy concluded.
