Film Producer Abel Mutua has echoed the sentiments expressed by many Gen Z individuals regarding the role the older generation plays in elections.

Gen Z has been vocal about feeling let down by their elders' voting decisions.

Abel addressed this on his YouTube platform, stating, "When election dates are announced, please tell us where you want to go for vacation. Tutalipa. We do not want to see you at the ballot box."

The running joke among Gen Z is that they will hide their parents' IDs to prevent them from voting. "Even a little because you have proven time and again that you are not to be trusted. Our parents have let us down."

The Constitution of Kenya (2010) guarantees every citizen the right to vote. Article 38 states:

  1. Every citizen is free to make political choices.
  2. Every citizen has the right to free, fair, and regular elections based on universal suffrage and the free expression of the will of the electors.
  3. Every adult citizen has the right, without unreasonable restrictions: a. to be registered as a voter; b. to vote by secret ballot in any election or referendum.

Abel continued to lament saying, "As recent as the other day, your children are being killed here in Parliament fighting for your rights, then we see you cheering someone. How much were you paid?" He called it foolishness.

It is expected that Kenyans will hold the next General election in 2027. "We haven't even buried the people who died in Parliament, and I see the elderly carrying clubs in the street. Are you stupid? I swear to God, we will make sure on election day, you have work to do. You will go on holiday, and we will take you to enjoy the scenery."

"Leave everything to us because you have shown us time and again that you neither know nor care about the affairs of this country. How can you be lied to so many times? You are our elders."
