Digital content creator and budding entrepreneur Murugi Munyi has shared an update with her fans after spending 5 hours in prison.

Murugi was arrested alongside other citizens who'd taken to the streets of Nairobi to peacefully protest and share their disgruntled opinions with the proposed 2024 financial bill yesterday from 11 am.

Things turned chaotic when the police announced they hadn't issued a permit to picket thus terming the protests illegal and a cat and mouse chase between them and the protestors ensured.

Recounting how she ended up being arrested on her social media, the content creator started by emphasising the importance of leading an active lifestyle as you never know when you might be tried.

"I'm here to tell you guys yesterday's experiences really solidified in my mind the importance of working out, the importance of staying fit and staying healthy. Because guys the running that we did in town yesterday! Wueh," dramatically stated the mother of 3 as she gave a recap of her experience out in the streets advocating for #Reject Finance Bill 2024.

She highlighted that had it not been for a slight mishap she's confident she wouldn't have been arrested.

"Guys I ended up falling and that is how I got caught by the cops. But I wouldn't have fallen if it wasn't for some guy who was running next to me. He tripped on one of those stands for rubber stamps that are usually on the side of the road in town and in his falling he dragged me down with him.

"If it wasn't for my cousin pulling me up by my t-shirt, God bless her soul... like in the video posted by Mpasho you can see my t-shirt is torn on the side, that was her pulling me up," Murugi narrated adding she badly hurt her right foot from the fall.

Her woes were far from over though. Soon as she'd found her footing tear gas canisters were lobbied and one detonated right where she and her cousin were standing.

"As soon as we stood up, and everyone had rushed past us because I had fallen a tear gas canister exploded right next to us. Just on my side and I literally saw my life flash before my eyes because guys I couldn't see, I couldn't swallow, it was literally hell," the content creator shared.

Finishing up she called out the police for trying to intimidate them when they were in the cells as well as the filthy and inhumane conditions that the cells are in.

"Why must Kenyan police treat people in the most demeaning manner? Like why are you pushing me and I'm literally walking towards the direction you're pointing? Why are the cells dark? Why do the cells have the most pungent cell ever?" Murugi voiced.
