Kenyans today are mourning the tragic death of Eric Omondi's younger brother, Fred Omondi. The comedian passed on after being involved in a tragic road accident along Outer Ring Road.

But who was this enigmatic entertainer? Let's take a look below:

Early Life and Family

Born and raised in Kisumu, Kenya, Fred was the youngest child in a family headed by a senior police inspector.

He had three siblings: Joseph Omondi, who tragically passed away in 2018, Eric Omondi, and a sister named Irene who lives in Germany. The family also included several step-siblings.

The loss of Joseph Omondi due to drug-related issues deeply affected Fred and strengthened his bond with Eric.

After completing his education, Fred moved to Nairobi with a determination to carve out his own path in the creative industry, distinct from his brother's established comedy career.

Fred developed a unique comedic style, incorporating creative rhymes, which he showcased on the popular Kenyan comedy show, Churchill Show.

His approach helped him gain recognition and stand out in the industry which helped him transition to club emceeing.

He quickly became one of Kenya's top club emcees known for his energetic and engaging performances and was always booked all year around.

His Instagram posts frequently highlighted his gigs, with his last performance taking place at Da Palace Lounge in Kisumu.

He had eagerly anticipated upcoming events in Meru on June 15-16, 2024, before his untimely demise.

Fred also founded an entertainment company, Big Baba Entertainment, specialising in events.

Personal Life

In a revealing interview, Fred shared that he was a father to one daughter, though he was not married. Despite his busy career, he maintained a close relationship with his daughter.

Though his life was tragically cut short by a road accident, Fred's contributions to comedy and entertainment will continue to be remembered and celebrated far into the future.

His philanthropic efforts and willingness to support fellow artists will leave an indelible mark on Kenyans and many up and coming comedians.
