Details about the late Purity Wambui, wife of comedian Matayo Keya, also known as Alphonse Makokha, have emerged in her eulogy.

The late Wambui is being buried today, Thursday, June 13, at Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi. She passed away on June 1, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

In the eulogy received by Mpasho, it was revealed that this mother of four was born on January 21, 1976, and passed away on June 1, 2024.

She was 48 years old at the time of her death.

The eulogy further disclosed that she was the daughter of the late John Thairu and Eunice Nyambura. She was the fifth child in a family of seven siblings.

The deceased attended St. Paul Primary School in Mbotela, Nairobi County, from 1983 to 1990.

She later met actor Alphonse Makokha in 1993, and they married and had four children together.

"Purity married Matayo Msagani Keya in 1993, and they shared many wonderful years together. Their marriage was full of love, respect, and mutual support. They were blessed with four beautiful daughters: Maline, Sharlet, Shanice, and Malia Msagani," the eulogy read.

The late Purity was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in September of last year after experiencing back and head pains.

"Despite her challenges, she remained strong and hopeful, spending as much time as possible with her loved ones," the eulogy read.

Purity Wambui was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital on May 29 and passed away on June 1, 2024.

In a recent interview with Tuko Kenya, Makokha revealed some details about his family and his late wife.

The Vioja Mahakamani actor disclosed that he had been married to the late Wambui for nearly 30 years.

During the interview, he refrained from mentioning the exact number of their children but hinted that they were many.

"In our culture, we don't count children. There are many children," Makokha said.

However, the veteran actor noted that he has always supported his family.

"I have fully supported them. That's the truth of the matter. I have supported them, and there has never been any problem. They are fine," he said.
