Legendary Tanzanian singer Ray C has been living in France for years now.
The singer has opened up for the first time on her YouTube channel on why she left her home country for the western country.
Ray C said after she had overcome drugs and left the rehab people did not take her seriously.
"As you already know I had gone through trying times but I thank God I was able to stand again."
"In 2017-2018 I went back to studio, released some songs but I still didn't have peace, I needed to heal. You know you can heal physically but the heart still isn't healed," she said.
To get the peace of the heart she wanted, Ray C needed to leave;
"I felt like people were not taking me seriously. I said I would not force respect, it would come by itself. At the time, I had already traveled so much, in many countries. I asked God to get me out of this country (Tanzania)."
Since moving abroad, the 'Wanitafuta Nini' hitmaker got a husband and a son.
She announced she was pregnant in February 2023 in an Instagram post;
"Wakati wa Mungu ni wakati sahihi." (God's timing is the perfect timing"
On February 13th, she shared the first photo of her son Shah Rukh.
