Veteran Nigerian actor Mr Ibu will be buried three months after his death. Real name John Ikechukwu Okafor was born on 17th October 1961 and died on 2nd March 2024.
The actor cum comedian will be buried on June 28, 2024.
Sunday Okafor, the elder brother to the late actor released a family statement saying that the family wishes to have a five-day burial ceremony for their kin.
“The Okafor family in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West LGA in Enugu State wishes to honour the loving memory of our hero and a legend John Ikechukwu Okafor who even in death has left a legacy of love, laughter and liveliness," read part of the statement
The family further invited the public to attend the burial.
“We would appreciate your esteemed presence as we lay to rest our son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and in-law on the 28th of June 2024."
“Kindly join us as we share the best and last moments with our icon."
The burial ceremony will kickoff on Tuesday 25th June 2024 with a match that is said to involved popular individuals. On Wednesday 26th June, there will be a candlelight vigil with entertainment. This event will be titled 'Mr Ibu's Night.'
On Thursday, June 27th, there will be a Christian service at the actor's home in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West, Nigeria.
On Friday, June 28th, the actor will be laid to rest.
On Sunday, June 30th, there will be a thanksgiving ceremony for the actor's family.
