Kenya's international journalist Larry Madowo has revealed the positive conversations he had with striker Michael Olunga on Tuesday before the match between Harambee Stars and Zimbabwe.

The captain of Harambee Star, who was also celebrating his birthday on the day of the match, scored three goals and led the Kenyan national team to a 3-1 victory against The Warriors of Zimbabwe.

Before the match, journalist Larry Madowo, who currently works at CNN, wished the Al-Duhail SC striker good luck in the final match.

"Good luck against Zimbabwe! Go for it like Malawi!" Madowo wrote to Olunga.

In his response, the 30-year-old player seemed to agree with Madowo and hinted at a good game.

"Absolutely, my brother," he replied.

Indeed, as he said, the captain of Harambee Stars showed an excellent game, scoring a hat-trick in the match and securing a significant victory for Kenya against Zimbabwe.

After the match, Madowo praised the striker for his excellent performance and wished him a happy birthday.

"My conversation with captain Michael Olunga earlier. Form is about speaking and acting! Happy birthday, brother," the CNN journalist wrote, revealing their conversation.

Harambee Stars on Tuesday secured a place in the knockout stages and clinched the Four Nations Championship title after defeating Zimbabwe 3-1 at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, Malawi, with a hat-trick from Michael Olunga.

The home team started on a rough note after Joseph Okumu's early mistakes gave their opponents the first goal in the third minute.

But with just two minutes remaining before halftime, Olunga, with determination, leveled the score after making good use of Ayub Timbe's pass into the danger area, defeating the Zimbabwean defender.

Olunga, who plays for Qatar's Al-Duhail, scored again in the 62nd minute by advancing forward and making it 2-1.

With just four minutes left before the final whistle, the charismatic striker sealed the fate of their opponents after attacking Timbe's ball, making it 3-1 and securing this crucial victory for the Stars.
