Veteran Nigerian actor, Amaechi Muonagor has reportedly passed away following a prolonged period of illness.
The actor died after battling with stroke and kidney-related disease. He was 62.

According to sources close to him, Amaechi was diagnosed with kidney disease late last year but had been battling diabetes for years and had been grappling with the effects of a stroke for nearly a year.
In a social media post in November 2023, Muonagor's cousin, Hon Tony Muonagor, posted a picture of him sitting next to the ailing actor on a hospital bed, stating that he wants the public to know the situation with his relative.
He later went into details of how the Nollywood legend had been battling kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke. He said though Muonagor had been managing his diabetes over the years and living his life.
Muonagor while recounting the fateful day when the stroke struck him explained that he had wrapped up filming on a movie set and was preparing to enter his car.
Since that day, Mr Muonagor had endured an arduous journey of recovery, spending months within the confines of a hospital to regain his health.
Muonagor had been receiving dialysis and physiotherapy, amongst other treatments to treat the paralysis brought on by a stroke.
In March 2024, barely a week ago, the Nigerian veteran actor pleaded for financial assistance from the general public to fund his medical expenses.
In a video shared on social media, Amaechi Muonagor was seen unwell, lying on a bed with a colleague actor Kingsley Orji seated next to him.
The disease had affected his speech and movement; making it difficult for him to speak for himself.
The actor was seeking to travel to India for a transplant.
