Eliud has arrived in Japan for the 2024 Tokyo Marathon, which will take place on March 3rd.
The 39-year-old, who has showcased marathon greatness over an 11-year period, is gearing up for the Tokyo Marathon on Sunday, 3 March, his last race before the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Kipchoge will be defending his record from two years ago.
According to Olympics.Com Kipchoge will be joined by equally fast compatriots on the starting line: Vincent Kipkemoi, who finished second when the former world record holder won his fifth Berlin title last year, and Timothy Kiplagat.
Kipchoge says he is excited to run again. Japan is where Eliud won his second Olympic gold, in 2021. Why did he choose to participate in the Tokyo Marathon?
“I promised the Japanese people that I would go back for the Tokyo Marathon. I am looking forward to running fast again and enjoying.”
He is no longer the fastest man over the distance, as the honour now belongs to the late Kelvin Kiptum, who tragically lost his life in a road accident on 11 February.
