Nigerian Afrobeat and pop singer and songwriter Joeboy Joseph Akinwale simply known by his stage name, Joeboy is walking his fans down memory lane as he reveals pivotal moments in his life that pushed him to hustle hard.

The 26 year old artist recounts being jobless for a while, the struggles he went through while job searching and how heartbreaking it was for him to go through all that and just make measly coins as his pay.

Joe started by revealing before music he was pursuing a course in Human Resources and Personal Management at the university. Suddenly, his school went on strike and as he had nothing to do in the months to come while waiting for reopening, he decided to look for a job.

“I have no choice than to go hard or go home because I remember that there was a time I studied Human Resources and Personal Management. When I was in the university, there was a strike for like three months.

So I decided to get a job and I was searching for a job for like three months in the whole of Lagos. I did not get one single job," the 'Body and Soul' hitmaker said recalling tough times he had before his breakthrough.

The artist narrated how at some point he got a job as a marketer but it was so demanding and tiring. These struggles made him start reevaluating his life. Joeboy knew such struggles are what awaited him once he was done with studies and he did not want that to be his script.

He notes the struggles pushed him to find alternatives to ensure he had a better life.

There was even a time I worked in a pure water factory as a marketer. I used to share fliers and products and anything to gather money.

At that point I was like, ‘I’m looking so hard for a job and I can’t find any. Is this how I’m going to end up when I finish school?’ So that was also a trigger. I told myself, ‘You really have to make sure you Make It!" said the 26-year-old Nigerian artist.

Finishing up he touched on his ties with internationally acclaimed musician and entrepreneur Mr. Eazi, Zaggadat. Joeboy recalls upon being discovered and signed by singer Mr Eazi, he realized this is it!

The young man heaped pressure on himself even though he found the whole experience scary as he did not want to disaapoint Mr. Eazi as well as everyone else involved.

"There are more people involved and people are investing their time, energy and money. So it wasn't a joke anymore or something I did for fun at that time so it was scary, but you go hard or go home,"
