In a candid conversation with Size 8 on their new reality show Love in Wild, this Sunday, Wanjiru Karumba the wife of renowned gospel DJ Fredrick Karumba alias DJ Krowbar disclosed the impact her kidney diagnosis has had on her family.
Wanjiru acknowledged the emotional toll and fears her family particularly her children faced since her diagnosis.
She disclosed that her children feared they would lose her and they would constantly ask their father about her but would not be upfront with her about it.
"It was very hard for them and they feared they would lose me. They would ask my husband but they could not ask me when I got a donor, we told them that they have a special love for my sister for accepting to be a kidney donor."
She also revealed the subsequent decision to seek therapy as a family as she reflected on the strain her illness has placed on her marriage and the emotional roller coaster it has been for all of them as a family.
Despite the challenge, the middle-aged beauty remains resolute in her resolve not to dwell on self-pity but to focus on resilience and hope.
She also appreciated the support her husband has been giving her so far acknowledging the love the DJ has for her.
"I knew my husband loved me but it's through this journey that I realized he kept his promise for better, for worse." Wanjiru marveled.
She also thanked her sister for agreeing to be her donor further citing that her journey so far has been by God's grace.
"I am good this journey is all about accepting it. God will cause it to work for our good," she stated.
Krowbar's wife has been bravely battling kidney failure with the DJ previously making a public appeal asking Kenyans for assistance in raising funds for her medical expenses.
