Kenyan singer Victoria Kimani is urging women to cease being vulnerable to men as a measure to combat femicide.

Following a nationwide peaceful march against the vice, Kimani emphasized the need for women to protect themselves, even from men they are in relationships with.

"I can only hope to equip ladies to stop allowing yourselves to be so vulnerable to these men... yes, even the men that you are currently in 'love' with," she stated in an Instagram post.

Kimani advised women to be discreet about their finances, suggesting that men do not need to know everything they own.

She further recommended sharing one's location with loved ones when going on dates and choosing secure, semi-crowded locations.

"Going on a date? Share your location with your loved ones. Go to a high-end fully secured, semi-crowded hotel where someone will hear altercations."

Emphasising the importance of intuition, Kimani expressed that women should never ignore their instincts. Instead of trying to educate or beg abusive men to stop, she encouraged women to be prepared and vigilant.

"Abusive men are not going anywhere! They are here to stay as long as there is good and evil in this world. Check history, read stats, and look at what is happening locally and globally. Be vigilant," she urged.

Kimani suggested that women take self-defense classes and learn to walk away from abusive relationships, emphasizing the need for women to operate fully in their power.

"I know too many women who make excuses for their abusive partners and accept the punching bag position because 'they are being loyal, he's having a hard time, he is stressed,'" she remarked.

In light of recent femicide cases, Kimani stressed that such incidents are not isolated and represent a broader issue that needs to be addressed.
