On Friday, actress Catherine Kamau aka Kate actress led the Nyeri march against femicide.
Kate shared moments captured from the ongoing match via her socials stating that it is her responsibility as a mother and a woman who holds a position in society to protect fellow women.
"The reason why we started this march, I feel as a woman and entertainer as someone who holds a position in society I have a responsibility to protect women. The majority of my following are women. The people who have supported me through and through are women.
"I am a mother, I am a woman and I have a right to life. My sisters have a right to life," Kate stated.
"I have a responsibility to protect and speak against any form of violation of their rights, that's why I've decided to come and join them today."
The award-winning actress spoke this while she was leading the Nyeri march that was scheduled to happen on the 26th of January 2024.
This march is scheduled as a means to communicate about the recent murders recorded in Kenya and with a call to stop the killings.
Kate has been an active figure in leading and spreading the word on femicide.
The Nyeri march is preceding the Nairobi one which is scheduled to happen on the 27th of January 2024 with a few other celebrities advocating for it.
Brenda Wairimu, Celestine Gashuhi, Foi Wambui, and Bryan Kabugi are among the few who have been actively talking and spreading the word on the femicide march on their socials.
The femicide march which is sponsored by Feminists in Kenya, USIKIMIE, and Zamara was set to start today in Nyeri and proceed to go on in the different cities tomorrow including Nairobi.
