Princess of Wales Kate Middleton has been admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery and cancelled all planned royal engagements until Easter
In an announcement on social media, Kensington Palace said in a statement: "Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery," it began.
"The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."
She is expected to remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days, after which she is expected to need to recuperate at home in Windsor for two or up to three months.
According to the statement, the Princess said she will prioritize maintaining her children's normal life, adding she is aware this will generate interest.
"The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private."
Her diary is a big deal, and the statement indicated that there is no intention to provide further information or updates unless there is significant new information to share.
"Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness' progress when there is significant new information to share."
The statement ended by saying;
"The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible."
