US rapper Montero Lamar Hill aka Lil Nas X is currently trending for his latest song 'J Christ', portraying himself as Jesus Christ and has been accused of mocking the religion.
He was a struggling artiste until November 2018 when his fortunes changed. He became famous when his country trap song called “Old Town Road” went viral at the age of 19.
Lil Nas X bought the beat from a Dutch teen Young Kio through a website called beatstars.com for 30 dollars.
Lil Nas X claimed he purposely wrote “Old Town Road” to become a viral hit and gain fame as well. He spent a month writing the viral song.
In December 2018, he he highly marketed and promoted his song with the help of others, posting tweets, videos, and memes among other humorous content.
Lil Nas X also uploaded the “Old Town Road” to the short-form video app TikTok along with a dance challenge.
In April 2019, he teamed up with Country Music King Billy Cyrus Ray for a remix. Also, controversy with the Billboard Chart helped spur him further into fame.
It was disqualified from Billboard’s Hot 100 Country list. This got tongues wagging. Billboard disqualified the song because it “does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version.”
