In the last KCSE, a total of 1,216 students scored an A. 201,133 candidates qualified to join universities. Classic 105 presenter Mike Mondo engaged his listeners and asked them to give their opinions on Kenyan university students' lifestyles.

Mondo asked parents if they thought their children would be safe when they left for campus.

 "We hear all these stories in the university, do you feel safe when your child goes to the university," he asked.

Adding; "A friend of mine told me that she's scared about her daughter going to campus because of all the murder cases we hear about campus students being murdered and it's not only that there are stories of wababa."

 A caller said;

"How you bring up your child determines how they behave in the university. I believe there are children who are problematic but not all of them and I agree that peer pressure is real. Parents have to get to know who their child is going out with. I think parents don't follow up with their children. The university has everything, if you want you will get all, it's you who can choose what you want."

Another caller, who is a student at a Kenyan-based university disagreed with the previous caller.

"You can talk to us and then what? Kwa ground hakuna pesa, the things that push us to do this but umenipeleka shule na Ksh 200. Other than talking to us, parents should step up and invest in your child. Shida ziko, hauna doo, uko at zero and mbaba tells you he'll buy you an apartment."

Check out tweep's reactions;

Michale Mich: University institutions are not a danger zone, but the student is always the danger to him/herself, and this is because of how one is brought up. The university/colleges bring the true self, expose one to the world, and show hw one interacts with freedom that comes with the world

Chemagut: Leave alone those going to Campus. Imagine a parent sending a kid finishing Form 4 to University in other countries. Trauma the child will go through trying to integrate in the new environment with different cultures and people. And he/she is far away from home.

Jenniffer Kanyiri: Not only in Kenya but worldwide, what'll help is knowing the purpose of what took him or her there,,and be focused so as not to be drawn into bad company or bow to peer pressure life,,which can be catastrophic,,,as a parent/ guardian, advice accordingly too
