8 of the most memorable viral moments in 2023

Even amid despair, the high cost of living, among other national issues, laughter played a major part in keeping Kenyans sane and hopeful.

Here is a selection of funny viral clips that had our ribs cracking, as 2023 comes to a close.

1. Kevin Mboya

This was a man who declared to KOT that he was traveling to the Coast to surprise his girlfriend with flowers.

He documented the trip until he got there. Then he went silent. We later came to learnt that he had found his woman in the arms of another man.

The heartbroken Kevin had returned to Nairobi. He was in mental distress and wrote, "I went to Kwale with love, and i returned with room for more love."

2. 'Kuna Kuna' dancing Chief

Dancing Kisumu Chief John Migun went viral for his awesome dance moves in a club.

He later landed a new role in Government. The 38-year-old Northern Sub Location assistant chief in Kisumu Central Sub-County was selected to market the Huduma Kenya services besides his role as an administrator.

3. MP Millie Odhiambo

The vocal politician in a video berated MP Kimani Ichung'wah after he proposed that Kenyans should pay Ksh 250k Or Ksh 500k for removing a traffic offence ticket from their cars without permission from respective authorities.

The video went viral and of course, it is being used in memes.

4. Akothee

In October, during an IG live,  Akothee appeared visibly irritated with the constant scrutiny of her marriage.

In the video, she removed her wedding ring, talking hilariously as she recounted what it would be like having his child.

 "I am Akothee the brand, harusi iliisha huko April, Natoa ring saa hii ndio muite polisi mnichape si huwa mnataka hivyo, maisha ni ya kwangu and you can't do anything you just have to follow me," ("I am Akothee the brand, the wedding ended back in April, I'm taking off the ring now; you can call the police if that's what you want. My life is mine, and you can't control it; you just have to follow me)."

5. Outspoken Pastor Ezekiel

In September, Pastor Ezekiel made us all laugh after a video of him suggesting that certain names of Kenyan women are troublesome.

Names like Diana, and Sarah are problematic women. Coincidentally, his wife is named Sarah.

6. Senator Gloria Orwoba

The vocal Senator appeared with a stained white trouser at Parliament to advocate for free distribution of sanitary towels to school girls and women in prison.

7. Mercy Tarus

A young girl won hearts in a video blasting a section of Rift Valley leaders.

The issue had to do with scholarships they had sacrificed for their children to get opportunities abroad.

She told how her parents and many others lost nearly Sh1 million in the botched Uasin Gishu airlift program..

8. Neno Evangelism preacher James Ng'anga

Pastor Nga'ng'a in a viral clip sent a woman away after he spotted her sleeping as he preached to the congregation.
