Entertainer and popular gospel singer Peter Wangudi popularly known as Alpha Mwana Mtule is finally a free man after being released from the Kenyatta National Hospital where he was allegedly detained for the past few weeks due to a large unpaid bill balance.

Mwana was allowed to go home on Tuesday night after comedian Eric Omondi encouraged Kenyans online to donate the balance of the hospital bill of about half a million.

Following this, the gospel singer who is well known for imitating DJ Afro thanked Eric Omondi and all the Kenyans who helped him to be released from the hospital.

"Thank you to all Kenyans @ericomondi for supporting me. Now I am free, you have removed the balance of my hospital, you are very important people," Alpha Mwana Mtule said in his statement on Tuesday morning.

To confirm that he is now healthy and ready to return to his art, he attached his statement with a video of him doing his famous DJ Afro impersonation.

"God bless you all. I love you so much. Continue to support my music," he added.

Earlier the gospel singer revealed that he was not allowed to leave the hospital even after he recovered, before the balance of Ksh 450,000 was paid.

On Monday morning, Eric Omondi went to the KNH hospital where the musician was detained and pleaded with Kenyans to help fellow artist Alpha Mwana Mtule pay the balance of the bill.

In his statement on Instagram, the comedian who is also heavily involved in activism revealed that despite being discharged from the hospital about a month ago, Mwana Mtule cannot be allowed to go home because of a bill of nearly half a million shillings.

"This family has really been through a lot. TEAM SISI KWA SISI please give it here today," Eric Omondi said through his Instagram account.

He added, "He was discharged from the hospital about a month ago but he is being detained here because of an unpaid bill of Ksh450k, we can extend these hours so I can go and get him to go home and not eat Christmas here. His number is 0725468373 (NAME: PETER WANGUDI). Send whatever you can." Eric attached his statement with a video of himself with the gospel singer who has been ill for the past few months.
