Afrobeats star singer Divine Ikubor popularly known as Rema has taken to social media to express his happiness after getting a rare opportunity to perform at the 2023 Ballon d'Or award ceremony.

Rema once again continues to put Afrobeats on a global scale and by extension makes Nigerians proud when he performs his song "Calm Down" at the football awards.

The award was held yesterday evening October 30, 2023 at the Theater du Chatelet in Paris, France. Lionel Messi of Argentina emerged as the winner followed by Erlin Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Vinicius Junior, Julian Alvarez.

Victor Osimehen made Nigeria proud as he was ranked number 8 in the world followed by Bernando Silva and Luka Modric in 10th place.

Rema in his Instagram post after performing thanked the organizers of the award for the opportunity and also thanked God.

He wrote; "Afrobeat in the Ballon d'Or, I am very grateful for the opportunity. Glory to the most gracious. 🤲🏾❤️."

Rema was the best artist from Africa to perform at the soccer event and entered the short list of African artists who have performed at sporting events.
