Lupita Nyong'o announced her split with lover Selema Masekela on 19th October.
The Black Panther actress is known to be very secretive about her personal life, fans were shocked when they got to learn of her relationship with Selema in December last year.
Maselela is a sports commentator and TV host, he is best known as the son of an anti-apartheid activist and "father of South African jazz" Hugh Masekela.
Lupita in an Instagram post shared that she decided to walk away from her 10-month relationship claiming she couldn't trust Maseleke anymore.
No one would have believed that the perfect couple could ever split up after showing off their loving photos all over social media.

The two met on a flight back in 2016.

Selema had always had a huge crush on the actress and made it public in 2016 when he asked people to help him talk to her since he was sitting behind her on a flight.
Masekela shared on a Twitter post "Hypothetically speaking of course...let's say you're seated behind Lupita Nyong'o on an aeroplane, what would be your opening line," minutes later he added; "Anyone comes up with a good opener for me with Lupita Nyong'o, send em. Cause I'm sittin' right behind her on this flight. #stumped."
Officially announced they were dating in December last year.
Last year in December the couple made their relationship public by posting a reel of them modelling into several matching outfits while snapping their fingers side by side to the beats of " The King's Affirmation"
Nyong'o captioned her post by posting, "We just click! 💘 @selema #thisismylove #nuffsaid,", while Masekela tagged her in his, writing, "Hearts are synched. My whole and actual love."
They purchased a Los Angeles home together.
Soon after the two love birds became official, the couple purchased a house together in a neighbourhood in Los Angeles. The pair paid $4 million for the 4-bedroom, five-bath home.
Lupita posted a loving message for Selema's birthday.
The actress was in high spirits to announce the birth of the love of her life. She posted a reel showing different photos of Masekela.
She captioned the post with "And THEN... the Universe saw it fit to bring this Sunshine Human ☀️ into my orbit, and this day marks his introduction to life," she wrote in the caption. Every day is full of #goodenergy and reasons to dance with @selema as my favourite playmate. Happy Birthday, mi amor!"
Announced break up on October
At this point, it's safe to say she loves to share her "private" life on social media and still claims it's private what a joke...
On October 19, Nyong'o announced her split with the sports commentator. She posted several slides on her Instagram page revealing that she had decided to break up after a loving life.
She wrote in a post: "At this moment, I must share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust, I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception."
She finishes the post by stating the reason for posting the breakup.
"To keep it [one hundred], and hoping that the knowledge of my experience might be useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it. #Breakup."
