Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known professionally as Ayra Starr, is living her dream life right now.
She has been working hard to get her name recognized among her musical peers.
But that was not always the case. The Beninese-born Nigerian singer on social media revealed she had a tough upbringing, working as a mama mboga.
She shared a picture of a local market in her hometown where she said she helped her grandmother sell vegetables and fruits in the market.
“Will forever be grateful for where I am in life. God really blessed me," she said.
While selling Ayra would sing to entertain and lure customers, but she never gave it much thought.
"6 years ago, this used to be me selling vegetables and fruits with my grandma, singing for whoever wanted to hear me. Now people are paying to watch me perform."
The Mavin Records signee is now making music 'for soft girls and lover boys' as she penned on her Twitter account.
Her popular song Rush, off her debut album 19&Dangerious Deluxe is being considered for this year's Grammy Awards.
Rush is officially the most-viewed music video by a female Nigerian act on YouTube with 244M+ views.
Ayra currently has a soulful Afro song dubbed 'Rhythm and Blues' that is ruling the charts.
