Following a personal dispute at their home outside of Eldoret town on Saturday night, an administrative policewoman shot and killed her husband.
The couple is said to have been having frequent quarrels but last night, the woman on duty at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) offices returned to the house where they were heard quarrelling.
Then, according to neighbours, there were gunshots, forcing people to escape for safety. Some of the neighbours claimed that the two were fighting before hearing gunshots.
The couple has four children. During the incident, the children screamed for help as they fled from the house.
Police county chief for Uasin Gishu, Benjamin Mwanthi, acknowledged the occurrence and stated that an inquiry was underway.
“The female officer is now in our custody and we are investigating the matter,” he said.
Before fleeing the scene, the assailant is reported to have shot her husband multiple times with more than 12 rounds inside their home.
She later showed up at the Eldoret police station, where she was apprehended and taken into custody. She will be arraigned on Monday.
