Bipolar disorder is a mental illness that causes unusual shifts in a person's mood, energy, activity levels, and concentration.

The middle-aged man has now appealed for help to get back on his feet after leaving the hospital last week.

"I got out of the hospital last week and I feel my mind has come back to normal and I don't want to go back to where I used to be," he said in a video doing rounds on social media

Mbugua noted that he is currently homeless as the people who hosted him previously told him to look for somewhere else.

"I came to look for somebody else who could host me but I didn't find. I need your help, " he said.

Mbugua said he has not used drugs for two months and would not want to be back to it again. He said he used to abuse marijuana and cigarettes.

He said he is finally at a point of healing even if he does not have a roof over his head.

He said he lost so much including friends in his journey to recovery.

"I am in a  position where many people are not willing to help, they say they are tired," he said.

He noted that he had even borrowed the phone which he used to take the video seeking help and post it on social media.

"If you want to help me, my email is danielkimani2027@gmail.com," he said.

Kimani got into the media industry as a 19-year-old when he joined Nation Media Group as a university student in training.

Mbugua said in the one week he has been out of the hospital, he has already come up with a business plan and his first proposal for a client with a set-up company structure.

He said he is currently looking for a serious business partner who will bring in money to help his idea take off.

He said he did not want to suffer in silence and thus decided to seek help from Kenyans.

"I realized I could suffer in silence and not speak out and be depressed again and go back to drugs. I don't want to go back to drugs," he said.
