• Elon Musk made the revelation during a live-streamed conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Buckle up guys, a new charge is about to start coming off your pockets! X (formerly Twitter) CEO Elon Musk has announced that the social media platform is about to start charging its users a monthly subscription fee.
So when factoring in Netflix, Apple Music, and that wellness app remember to start saving for X as well.
In a live-streamed conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the multi-billionaire with a nose for business revealed his plans noting that he was looking to introduce the monthly fee as a strategic response to combat the proliferation of bots on the platform.
The Tesla CEO confirmed that his app has 550 million monthly users as of now who generate 100 million to 200 million posts per day while telling the Israeli Prime Minister, “We'll be moving to having a small, monthly payment for use of the X system in order to combat vast armies of bots.”
Musk, however, did not provide specific information about how much the monthly fee would cost users or what additional features would be included in the subscription at the lowest tier.
X users have been livid since the announcement with a section of netizens promising to leave the social media platform once it officially starts charging its users. Others blew it off as one of Musk's antics recalling how he wanted to charge verified users for the blue badge but ended up restoring it back.
We can never truly know what goes on in that tech mogul's mind so for now we just have to wait and see.
Are you willing to pay a monthly subscription for X in case Musk actually implements this?
