DJ Krowbar has confirmed that he has raised Ksh 3 million after he appealed for help to aid his wife Joy in getting a kidney transplant.
Krowbar and his wife are looking for Ksh 6 million for the transplant.
Speaking to Uliza Links, the gospel music mix master said he was grateful and that he had raised Ksh 3 million of the six million he is appealing for.
In a recent interview on NTV's Gumzo La Sato, Joy said she and her husband were in disbelief the first time they got the news from the doctor.
"The first thing was denial, we won't through denial and that's why we went from one hospital to another," she said.
Adding grief was also part of it "When I finally accepted, I started grieving. When you are put through that machine, you are grieving."
"You had planned to travel but you can't, you look at your kids and ask 'Is this my end?' My son had just turned two years old, it was hard."
Joy asked God for strength to continue doing what she loves best; fashion. Her hubby Krowbar said they had mixed reactions,
"We have prayed and fasted. If it is to get angry at God, we have done that. We got into two places. Joy got into the 'Why Me' place. "
"For myself, I reached a place where I asked God 'You decided that we are able to conquer this thing?'
"We asked God to do as His will," he said
In a previous interview, Krowbar said he cried when he first heard of the news.
"It was April last year on a Sunday. She wasn't feeling well, I told her to go to the hospital and I'll stay with the kids. I was called to go to the hospital and When I got there, the doctor told me that she had a kidney failure which was brought by high blood pressure."
"The first time aliwekwa kwa mchine nilijikaza kimwanamme lakini nikaenda choo nikakaa peke yangu nikalia, sikua naamini ni nini nimeona, juu wife alikua analia."
Krowbar said two weeks later, Joy had a blood infection "Tukarudi hosi, its blunder. Tukakaa wiki mbili, after those two weeks we believed. It was so bad that she said she didn't want visitors in the hospital. She wanted to be alone to accept. We started dialysis last year and it's expensive."
The diet had to change and so, it meant more expenses for the couple but God came through for them.
"There were times it was so expensive for us, I would tell God, I am tired and I can't do this anymore. I told Him, I will not beg for money."
"When the year started, I was so low. A couple called and said they would pay our kids' school fees."
Krowbar said Joy's sister said she was ready to donate a kidney to Joy last year but asked her to take time to think about it.
"Sister ya joy mdogo akakam na akasema ako ready kumpea, we asked her to take her time. The conversation came back this April and she said she is ready."
