• Kiambu among 6 counties to experience scheduled blackout

Kenya Power has released a list of areas that will experience electricity supply interruption on Thursday to allow engineers to undertake routine maintenance.

The scheduled interruption will affect areas within six counties of Machakos, Kiambu, Kisii, Homa Bay, Nyeri and Meru.

Power will be switched off from 8am in Nyeri until 5 pm in Kiawarigi, Kitundu, Kiamuturi, Gatunguru Tea Factory and Kiriti Tea Factory.

Other locations to be affected include General China, Kanyama Junction, Itiati, JJ Kamotho and Mioro, Merereini, Wanjerere and Kihoya markets.

In all the other remaining counties, power will be switched off from 9am to 5pm.

In Meru, areas to be affected include Embori, Kikwetu, Kisima, PJ Dave Farms and Homegrown. 

In Homa Bay, customers within Rangwe, Homa Hills and Homa Bay town and areas such as Asumbi, county offices, Homa Bay Referral Hospital, Olare and Gendia will be affected.  

In Kisii, parts of Kisii town will go without power including Gusii Stadium, State Lodge, EACC offices, Treasury and adjacent customers.

A similar fate will befall residents around Kithimani, NYS Yata, Kenyatta Farm, Kabaa and Delmonte offices in Machakos county.

In Kiambu County, areas to be affected include Toll Station and Murera Coffee.

Targeted installations include Titanic, Green Ridge, Tumaini Catholic Church, Judea Estate, Shell Toll Station, Neema Estate, Makaburi Village, Riverline and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power undertakes scheduled power supply interruptions to institute routine maintenance on its power lines, disconnect illegal connections and establish new installations.
