Comedian YY explains why his mum features in 'Dinga Ya Wife' series

• YY says one shouldn't focus on responding to every person who criticizes them.

Comedian YY has explained some of the challenges he has been facing in the industry.

He also responded to critics questioning why his features include his mom on his shows.

This he shared during an interview with SPM Buzz.

The father of one says not knowing what fans will love or hate is a big challenge for most comedians.

"Comedy huwa na anxiety mbaya kushinda anything else, Khaligraph hatense coz unajua music ikona catalogue unajua ni nyimbo gani inapendwa.. comedy audience hajui unasema nini."

He says unlike in music in comedy one has to continuously create fresh content

"Unafaa kuwa fresh every day, good as your previous joke and your previous show.

It's all about experimenting,tunakuaga na anxiety hadi time tutaperform."

The stand-up comedian added that comedy is more about being unpredicted.

"Kwa comedy it's more of being unpredicted, audience hafai kupredict kitu utafanya, akieza kupredict hiyo si comedy hakuna humour kwa kenye utasema."

(In comedy the audience should not predict what you will do/say. If they can do so then there is no humor in it.)

On why he includes his mum in his video skits, YY responded

The comedian harshly answered that people should stop printing that his mother is their mother and stop the unnecessary fake love they do on social media.

"kuna a lot of negativity kwa social media, kuna watu wanajifanya wanapenda mama yangu kunishinda, now you're exposing your mother to social media... my mum anapenda comedy na anapenda kuact anafwata script vizuri sana... amerun a big part of my season 8."

He added that people will always talk, and people shouldn't respond to every dog that barks.

"At the end of the day, watu will always talk that doesn't mean you stop because of every dog that barks at you, mimi kenye nilitaka nikujimake happy na mamangu happy ."

YY is currently in London for a comedy show alongside Teacher Wanjiku, Proff Hamo,Jemutai, etc.

Khaligraph Jones will also be joining the team.
