Burna Boy the King of Afrobeats has a rather strong opinion about this genre of music.

The Nigerian singer in an interview with Just Being Benny told that Afrobeats is a genre that lacks substance.

"Almost half of them have no real-life experience's that they can understand which is why you hear most of the Nigerian music, Afrobeats as you people call it, is mostly about nothing," Laughing about his opinion, he added "Literally about nothing. There is no substance to it like there is nobody is talking about anything, it's just a great time. Just an amazing time,".

Burna has been credited with helping spread the popularity of Afrobeats and his special blend makes him a force to reckon with in Africa and worldwide.

"But at the end of the day life is not an amazing time no matter how nice you want of a time, you are still going to face life. So for me, I feel like music should be the essence of the artiste. An artist is a person who has good days bad days, great days, and worst days," he continues to weigh in.

The Cheat on Me hitmaker has released the tracklist for his upcoming album, ‘I Told Them’.

Burna had a private listening party for the ‘I Told Them’ album on Tuesday, August 22 where he told of his thoughts.

The self-styled African Giant took to social media on Monday to share the artwork for the music project

The album is Burna’s 7th studio album and is set for release on August 25.

The much-anticipated album comes off the heels of his Grammy-nominated sixth album ‘Love, Damini’ released in 2022.
