Jose Chameleone marked a major limestone on Thursday, August 10. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in International Relations and diplomacy.
The graduation ceremony made the singer emotional as he called on graduands to use their degree wisely.
His father also spoke to the musician, appealing to him to stop taking alcohol.His father told him that they would lose the singer if he continued with this habit.
He spoke at Jose's graduation dinner where family and friends were gathered.
Last month, Jose was admitted to a US hospital with stomach complications.
He announced this in a message asking for prayers. This is what prompted Jose's father to urge the singer to stop drinking.
Mzee Mayanja warned Chameleone that he had already had too many close shaves with death.
According to Pulse Uganda, the speech was aimed at appealing to his senses.
He fears so much for his son that he said
"The Americans told you to stop drinking. They said if you want to be alive you must drink only water,” he said.
Adding:
“If you want your life, how do you keep drinking alcohol; waking up every morning crying about a hangover… what are you looking for?”
Jose's other brother was also admitted to the hospital around the same time and underwent surgery.
The old man reminded Jose that he has children to consider
“I now have a 22-year-old grandchild. I also have an 18-year-old, a 17-year-old, and a 15-year-old. I am not sure if any of you will live to see that. But if you want to see your grand kids like me, you have to stop drinking.”
