Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, Governor Jonathan Bii, and his Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot found themselves in an uncomfortable position during a meeting with parents and students over the Finland education programme.

The meeting had been convened to discuss the way forward for students who had paid for scholarships but were yet to leave the country to go and study in Finland.

During the meeting, a female student confronted the leaders present - lecturing them for arriving late for the meeting and being selfish with the truth about the said topic.

She started by acknowledging that her remarks might be termed disrespectful.

The video has gained traction online with many citizens agreeing with her sentiments.

She begins by noting that the leaders had arrived late for the meeting called to discuss concerns from parents and students who paid for scholarships in Canada and Finland through the County Government.

"First of all you have come late, yet you instructed us together with our parents that the meeting will be held at 9 am," she said.

She continued to express displeasure in the manner in which Uasin Gishu governor Bii, Senator Jackson Mandago, and Deputy Governor Barororot had been inconsiderate to the people to elect them to office.

"Uifika saa ngapi? (You arrived at what time) Probably you dont expect me to ask such a question. These are the people who elected you to serve them," she continues.

"I may seem very foolish in front of you considering I am very young,".

The young lady turns to point at an elderly grandfather saying;

"Guga (Grandfather) has not eaten anything since early morning. We have brought our parents, yet they are very sick, others have blood pressure, some diabetes others depression,".

She calls out one of the leaders; "Mr Chelil I went to school with three of your kids... I want to ask you one question. Do you know the medicine for depression? Do you know any anti-depressant? You don't. I studied with Beryl, She is in the UK right now as we speak."

She went on to mention the names of the other two students of that leader and how they are abroad in Australia and Canada, studying uninterrupted without worrying about campus education.

The young lady also called out a second leader and spoke about how his children are also studying in International Universities.

"Your children are abroad, and you told our parents, si hawa watoto wote ni wetu? Si wote ni wetu? Ako wapi mtoto wa Barorot hapa? "

She turned to look at the crowd behind her.

"Ako wapi watoto wa Mandago, No leader here now you have decided we are going to personalize things. Mr Barorot do you know medicine for pressure? Do you know any anti-depressant off your mind? Any? No! Mr Mandago any anti depressant? No!!"

She adds; "Very good. There are students here who are on antidepressants. I want you to go just for your information sake muende google hata dawa ya depression ni nini. Some of us are on antidepressants. I finished school in 2021, I graduated from Kabarak University. Your daughter graduated from Riara University and they are now abroad,".

The lady lectures the deputy governor saying he is very selfish with the truth and keeps on lying every time he meets with students and parents.

The video ends with the lady saying she is not afraid to face the worst after her bold speech.

However, both Bii and Mandago have denied wrongdoing in the management of funds contributed by parents for their children's fees even as the EACC continues to probe the alleged embezzlement of Sh837 million by officials of the Uasin Gishu County Government.

During submissions, a parent stood on a point of objection saying alleged claims by Mandago that parents never paid for school fees were false.

He said 51 students were admitted at a Finish university - 25 to pursue degrees and 26 for nursing courses.

"For Hon Mandago to say parent's never paid fees is false," he said.

According to Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, there are 233 students studying in Finland while 45 are in Canada.

The commission said funds for children who had not yet travelled were used to pay second-semester fees for those already in overseas universities.

EACC said investigations will reveal any embezzlement that may have taken place in the process.
