• The mother of 5 never shies away from being frank and honest about her past.

Famous Kenyan singer Akothee has insisted that she has been married only once-that is to her current marriage to mzungu hubby, Denis 'Omosh' Schweizer.

Speaking in an interview with Dr. Ofweneke, the mother of five described her first marriage to the father of her three daughters, Jared Okello as just marriage practice.

She noted that she was very young when they got married and knew very little about marriage. "I was 14 years old, what did I know? What does a 14-year-old girl know about marriage?" Akothee questioned.

The 43-year-old musician went on to explain the circumstances that led her to marry Mr. Jared Okello.

She revealed that her ex-husband was traveling to the Bahamas and the only way she and their children could follow him there was to first officially marry him.

"My ex was going to the Bahamas with SDA people. He wanted to come back and take me with the children. The only way he would add me to his travel list is for us to get married. My wedding cost 2,500 shillings," she said.

The musician made it clear that their Sh2,500 wedding budget covered everything that was done or spent on the day.

She hinted that her marriage with Mr. Jared hit a wall after the father of her three daughters fell in love with another woman.

After breaking up with Mr Jared, the singer went to Mombasa where he intended to engage in activities to provide for herself.

"I always wanted to be a taxi driver. I didn't have papers to knock on someone's door, I only had form 4 papers,” the mom of 5 said.

It was when she was in Mombasa that she met the father of her fourth child with whom she gave birth to her first son, Prince Ojwang.

Last October, Akothee confirmed that her marriage to Mr. Jared Otieno was officially dissolved on May 22, 2011, after a divorce case was filed in 2007.

This is after being legally married to Mr. Jared for about five years. "The divorce papers were filed in 2007, Order of Nisi (Absolute). Therefore, this marriage was dissolved on May 22, 2011, by the Supreme Court," she said.
