A vehicle belonging to Citizen TV was stoned along Mbagathi road as journalists covered anti-government protests called by the opposition on Wednesday.

The car had its windscreen stoned.

In Mathare, Nairobi, KTN News reporter Francis Odee was forced to scamper for safety while covering demonstrations.

Protestors engaged the police in running battles.

The protests happened despite being banned by the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome who termed them illegal.

He said the Raila Odinga-led outfit has not notified the police of plans to hold the follow-up protests to last Friday's Saba Saba demonstrations.

"In this regard, no such demonstrations/gatherings, or protests will be allowed on Wednesday since no such notification has been presented to any police station. All lawful means will be used to disperse such demonstrations," Koome said.
