Brian Chira has found himself catapulted into the limelight, captivating audiences with his humorous  TikTok videos.

From his humble beginnings , Chira's path to fame has been nothing short of remarkable. Through an interview with comedian Oga obinna, Chira breaks down the events that led to his viral sensation.

It all started one fateful day in Ngata, Nakuru, when Chira, feeling bored, decided to purchase a bottle of liquor with the last of his earnings from doin a laundry hustle.

''Nilikuwa nimetoka kibarua ya kuosha nguo, walikuwa wamenilipa like 400,it was around 3 and i was so bored i didn’t have friends to hang out with  so i decided wacha niingie ka wines and spirits nichukue ka quarter kangu, chira akaenda kwa barabara akakaa kando, nikapiga ka quater kangu nikiangalia magari.'' 

As fate would have it, he ended up being in the right place at the right time, positioned at the scene of an accident. Passersby recognized him and pushed him in front of a camera to give a testimony as a eye witness, inadvertently initiating his meteoric rise to fame.

''I was trending without even me knowing i was trending, i didnt even have a phone you can imagine, najiona kwa mpasho and everywhere and am like oh, chira you are trending today,''

With no phone to his name and unaware of his newfound popularity, Chira was astonished to discover that he had become an overnight sensation.

The first video that propelled him into the spotlight showcased his unassuming charm, capturing the attention of countless viewers across the nation. Encouraged by the unexpected positive response, Chira donned a wig in his subsequent video to surprise and engage his audience further.

''Now after that the next video i did was witha wig, because i wanted to surprise kenyans, so you will be like we’ve seen this kijana before, okay so we want to know who he is, so the next video i did, i did with a wig, i said my name is Chira Brian Chira, and that video went viral again.''

Embracing this new opportunity, Chira dedicated himself to producing daily TikTok videos, relentlessly pursuing his dreams of radio and widespread recognition.

Addressing a common misconception, Chira clarified that although his videos often portray him as being intoxicated, this portrayal is not an accurate reflection of his daily life.

Unfortunate labeling as the "drunk eye witness" has perpetuated this perception, overshadowing his genuine creativity and talent. While he occasionally indulges in alcohol, it does not define him.

''I am not always high, its just because of the narrative that people have created, what bloggs have put out there, if you google me right now ill come up as the drunk eye witness, everybody is gonna be like oh, ni ule mlevi, so because of that notion you will always assume im drunk.''

Chira's decision to pursue TikTok as a full-time endeavor was born out of necessity and ambition. With financial struggles weighing on his shoulders, he recognized the potential for monetization within the TikTok community.

''You see how these other Tik Tokers are making money and am here i have no school fees, i don’t have money to look after my cousins, i cant do anything for myself, so i saw TikTok as an opportunity to grow to become a household name in kenya, to become the next socialite because that's what i wanna be.''

Determined to overcome financial constraints and become a household name in Kenya, Chira poured his energy into creating multiple videos daily, with the hope that one would go viral and bring him the recognition he desired.
