Barack and Michelle Obama's heartfelt messages to daughter on special occasion

Former US president Barack Obama has penned a sweet birthday message to his firstborn daughter Malia as she turns 25.

Taking to his official Twitter and Instagram pages the father of two shared a heartwarming photo of him and his daughter locked in a warm embrace.

Malia could be seen smiling broadly as she rested her chin on her dad's shoulder.

Obama went on to highlight some of his daughter's highest qualities that bring him joy and pride as well as share a message of good wishes to the remarkable young lady.

"Happy birthday to this talented, hilarious, and beautiful young woman. Malia, I hope 25 brings you everything you’re looking for and more," the former head of state lovingly wrote.

Michelle on her part shared a throwback photo of herself holding a toddler Malia as she happily played while on the back of a giraffe toy.

Both mother and daughter smiled at the camera in matching white ensembles in the Obama’s family home.

“Happy birthday, Malia! I feel so lucky to be your mom and to be able to watch you become the wonderful young woman you are today. Love you so much! 💕," captioned the proud mom.

This year, Malia debuted her screenwriting skills on the Prime Video series Swarm under award-winning artist/ actor and producer/director Donald Glover as well as celebrated playwright Janine Nabers.

Glover, 39, announced in April that he's helping Malia develop her first short film under his Gilga production banner.

A show Barack admitted he'd already watched while in an interview with Hasan Minhaj. On his views towards the Prime Video series Swam he said;

“I watched it because, A: I was a big fan of Atlanta. And I watched it because my daughter worked on it. So, of course, I’ve got to watch it,"
