Pastor TD Jakes is going viral online for a sermon delivered to congregants berating women for advising men how to be fathers.
He said men don't need pointers from women on how to be a dad, adding every time a woman does so, it makes him want to scream.
The 66-year-old message was delivered on Father's Day but it is not until now that netizens are realizing the impact of his sermon.
During his hour and 18-minute preaching in the youtube video below, Jakes says,
"If another woman tells me how to be a father, I will flat-out scream."
While offering a sermon for Father's Day, which he titles 'It's Worth the Wait,' Jakes, at one point, offers up a disclaimer to others trying to speak on his parenting skills.
He says, "If another childless person tells me how to be a father, I'll scream."
The audience begins to applaud and roar in laughter. The vocal pastor was well aware he would draw the wrath of social media and said as much.
"I know this is going to get me on TikTok, for sure, but here I go." He continues to insist, "If another woman tells me how to be father, I will open my mouth and flat out scream. You can no more tell me how to be father, than I can tell you how to birth a baby. I don't know anything about birthing a baby. I don't know anything about nursing a child. You have to know what you don't know. Shut up being the teacher and just be the wife."
His congregants did not seem offended and even gave him a standing ovation. However social media disagrees with his sermon.
Jakes then adds, "How do you know how to be a father? Not only are you not a father, most of you didn't even have a father and yet you're an expert on how to be..." he continues.
Jakes goes on to say, "But, that's alright. I'm not gonna bother you, because you're not in the text. It's all right. I'm sorry."
