Bill Gates's daughter made him Google 2 Nigerian stars before visit to country

American business mogul, investor, and philanthropist Bill Gates who is currently in Nigeria opened up about his 20-year-old daughter's gladness over his visit to the West African nation.

The business magnet who is in the country as part of the Gates Foundation to discuss global health and development revealed that his daughter was very excited over the possibility that her dad would get to meet afro beats stars Burna Boy and Rema.

"And when my daughter Phoebe heard I was going to Nigeria, she said 'Oohh you are lucky because you get to see Burna Boy and Rema,'" the billionaire disclosed.

He sadly admitted that at that moment he did not know who those people were so he had had to Google them.

The audience burst out laughing at the investor who is best known for co-founding software giant Microsoft, along with his late childhood friend Paul Allen.

"So I had to look them up because you know I am hip like that," Bill Gates joked while delivering his opening address at the Lagos State-held event.

The Microsoft founder went on to add that he would get why his daughters thought he was going for a concert or anything afro beats related.

He added that the last time he'd visited the West African country he had got to see 2 of its finest artists perform live and he was quite impressed with that.

"But I also remember the last time I was here I got to see Davido and Wizkid perform and I was very impressed with that," Bill Gates revealed.

Finishing off the Amazon founder highlighted that his kids thought he had traveled for an event as opposed to a business conference.

"So just so you know my kids now think I have come to a very hip event," Bill the father of 3 joked as he let out a small chuckle.

The philanthropist also lauded Nigeria's music industry as he admitted the tunes have dominated the world.

"Of course being here in Nigeria, I can't help but mention the amazing creativity that goes on here. Afro beats from Nigeria are popular everywhere," Bill noted.
