When Blessing Lung'aho started out acting and appearing on billboards, people thought he was enjoying financial success from the fruits of his labor.
Sadly this wasn't so. Even his landlord was baffled by how Lungaho owed rent arrears.
In an interview with Maina Wa Ndungu on the Banta podcast, Blessing Lungaho reminisced about the journey to gaining experience as an actor.
At the time he owed his landlord who couldn't understand how he couldn't pay rent yet he was a celeb.
Blessing tried to explain to his landlord that things take time.
"Celeb haujalipa miezi mbili? Anakuja kunionyesha, si uko kwa billboard sasa unajua huwezi ruka, nilimchapia stori."
His landlord used to think that every billboard meant he had already been paid.
"Akiniona hivi kwa billboard ni mita akiona hivi mita."
Fortunately, hard work and persistence paid off.
"That Blessing is the reason I am me huyu jamaa alikuwa anajaribu bwana you know? So I cant knock him."

He told that productions are getting better and creating more opportunities.
"The future is great. We can actually do jobs we are excited about. Saa hii I am in an industry where I actually look forward to shows I am not in.
Kuna show saa hii vitu za Kenya ni exciting wacha niekelee Njoro wa Uber naskia fiti maze and that's an industry I would like to be a part of, " he told about binge-watching other shows.
Blessing had hits and misses in his journey.
"I genuinely tell people that if there's something else you can do, do that. If kuna idea ya kitu ingine unaweza fanya, enda ufanye io, coz hii itaku character develop.
I am an actor unajua the first question people ask is? What else do you do? What do you do for money? Na mi sikuunderstand why, kazi ya actor ni acting.
Kazi ya actor is acting maze. Back then ilikuwa kutafuta kazi, kuomba kazi kujiskuma ufanye kazi kuomba payment, kutafuta payment. Kujiskumakutafuta payment. Then you repeat."
