JuaCali is one of the legendary artists that brought genge music into the Kenyan music industry.

He has narrated  how back in 2004 he had been shortlisted with other artists for a Trust campaign.

But then they had to go in for an interview first before one actually gets the job.

So he went for the interview at The Chancery Valley road, took a matatu to town, then he walked from town to the location as it was not so far.

Jua Kali went on ahead to narrate that he was served with refreshments , before he went in to face a panel of two ladies.

He says the ladies asked him what car he drives and at first he thought maybe it was like a joke because they saw him come in on foot.

"I swear to God, I am not lying,....hio swali ilinipata offguard coz in my head I was like hii swali iko na connection gani na hii campaign?"

JuaCali says he told he them he doesn't own a car and that he had come to the venue in a matatu.

They then went on with the interview, before he was told not to contact them until they contact him.

He knew that he wasn't going to get the job but he remembers his mum and Clemo telling him to just be patient his time was coming.

Later on he saw billboards with the campaign in the city with the other artistes and he still went on with his music only for him to be approached by Motorola 2 years later to be their brand ambassador.

His parting shot was that no one should ever give up on their dreams no matter the circumstances.
